Through Downtown Austin

The Tour

Dark history.
Real stories.

Discover the sinister side of Austin on this top-rated walking tour through downtown's most haunted and historic sites.

Begin at The Tavern — once a Prohibition hotspot, now home to the ghost of a girl named Emily. Step inside to see her shoes still on display. From there, visit eerie landmarks including the Texas Capitol, Paramount Theatre, and the Omni Hotel Austin, where the tour comes to a fitting close. Step inside what was once the home of Mirabeau Buonaparte Lamar, the second President of the Republic of Texas, a man who fought fiercely to keep Austin as the capital and whose legacy lives on in the very streets you've walked tonight. But the history here doesn't stop with presidents. This is also where you'll hear the story of Jack, a travelling salesman who arrived in Austin chasing fame and fortune, and never quite made it home. The perfect place to end the night.

Hear the chilling truth behind the Servant Girl Annihilator, the UT Tower shooting, and rumors of Austin's modern-day "Rainey Street Ripper." Explore the story of Angelina Eberly, the fight to keep Austin the capital, and see real paranormal photo evidence along the way.

Expect laughs, goosebumps, and unforgettable stories as you dive deep into the shadows of Texas history. The route is approximately 2 miles.
